Drive from New York to Philadelphia (100 mi, 1 hr 40 min). Visit Independence National Historical Park (30 mins) - a land that witnessed the independence and birth of the United States. Drive to Washington D.C. (140 mi, 2 hr 30 min). Optional: U.S. Capitol In-depth Tour + The National Archives (120 mins) - inside visit U.S. Capitol & National Archives, outside visit Supreme Court & Library of Congress. Alternative: Washington D.C. In-depth Tour including Air Force Memorial, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial. Visit White House (outside, 30 mins), Lincoln Memorial + Vietnam Veterans Memorial (45 mins). Drive to Gaithersburg hotel (25 mi, 40 min).
Corning - Niagara Falls
Drive to Corning Museum of Glass (275 mi, 5 hrs). Visit the world's largest glass collection museum featuring about 100,000 glass boutiques and artistic sculptures; also a factory for glass production and crafts store. Optional: Watkins Glen State Park + Finger Lake (90 mins, seasonal May-October) - stratified rock geology with over a dozen waterfalls along approximately two-mile canyon trail, scenic spot with 14 long and narrow lakes. Drive to Niagara Falls (135 mi, 2 hr 30 min). Mandatory: Niagara Falls Night View Tour (90 mins) - visit One Park, Two Islands, Three Falls; see Horseshoe Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, American Falls under colorful neon lights. Drive to hotel (20 mi, 30 min).
Niagara Falls - Boston
Explore Niagara Falls - a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge spanning the border between Ontario and New York. Optional: Niagara Falls Classic Tour (2.5 hours). Summer itinerary: Whirlpool Park + Cave of the Winds + Maid of the Mist. Winter itinerary: Whirlpool Park + Cave of the Winds + Old Fort Niagara State Park. Niagara Whirlpool (125 feet deep, formed 7,500 years ago) with trails and speedboat option. Cave of the Winds: elevator down 53 meters to valley bottom. Maid of the Mist: boat trip since 1846 with blue raincoat experience. Old Fort Niagara State Park: historical value from Indian-French War, American Independence, Anglo-American War. Drive to Boston (470 mi, 8 hrs).
Boston - New York
Boston is a city steeped in history with prestigious universities and vibrant heritage. Drive to Harvard University (25 mi, 40 min). Mandatory: The Firsts of America Exploration Tour (3 hours) including Harvard University official campus tour (1 hour), The Old State House (birthplace of American Revolution), first subway system, first public park, first public botanical garden, first large-scale free municipal library. Visit Quincy Market (70 mins, optional Boston Lobster Meal) - well-known tourist attraction and shopping place with unique Romanesque architecture, large columns, triangular roofs, classic carved gates, granite materials. Shop for Boston souvenirs. Return to New York (220 mi, 4 hrs). Optional: BOS Airport Drop-off, NYC Airport Drop-off.
