Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Pick-up
Arrive at LAX and meet tour guide. Free airport pickup available between 10:00 am and 22:00 pm (every 2 hours). Tour guide will be wearing yellow uniform and holding yellow flag or iPad. Proceed to hotel for check-in. Phoenix city group guests will check-in at their hotel independently.
Los Angeles - Salvation Mountain - Phoenix
Morning: Drive from Los Angeles to Sunnylands (45 mins, 115 mi). Visit Sunnylands estate featuring eucalyptus and olive trees. Afternoon: Drive to Shields Date Garden (60 mins). Visit Salvation Mountain (30 mins, 75 mi from Shields Date Garden) - famous for "God Is Love" message with colorful religious and nature artwork. Drive to Phoenix (255 mi, 4.5 hours). Visit Arizona Capitol Museum (outside visit) - building made from Arizona materials including malapai, granite, and copper dome.
Phoenix - Saguaro National Park - Deming
Morning: Drive from Phoenix to Biosphere 2 (110 mi, 2 hours). Explore Biosphere 2 - a closed, man-made ecosystem built over 8 years at $150 million cost. Drive to Pima Air & Space Museum (45 mi, 1 hour) - one of world's largest non-governmental aerospace museums with nearly 300 aircrafts over 80 acres. Afternoon: Drive to San Xavier del Bac Mission (10 mi, 20 mins) - oldest European structure in Arizona built 1783-1797. Drive to Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (17 mi, 30 mins) - composite of plant, animal, and geologic collections. Visit Saguaro National Park - 368 sq km park with giant saguaro cacti forests. Drive to Deming, New Mexico for overnight.
Deming - White Sands National Park - Carlsbad Caverns - Roswell
Morning: Drive from Deming to White Sands National Park (130 mi, 2 hours). Explore white gypsum desert with massive undulating dunes covering 300 miles - wear sunglasses to avoid snow blindness. Afternoon: Drive to Carlsbad Caverns National Park (200 mi, 3.5 hours). Explore diverse array of caves with vibrant underground world. UNESCO World Heritage Site (1955). Home to numerous bat species. Drive to Roswell (100 mi, 1 hour 50 mins) - world-renowned UFO capital for overnight stay.
Roswell - Santa Fe - Albuquerque
Morning: Drive from Roswell to Santa Fe Plaza (200 mi, 3 hours). Visit Santa Fe Plaza - National Historic Landmark in downtown Santa Fe featuring traditional Spanish-American colonial architecture. Explore outdoor market, historic buildings, art galleries, museums, restaurants, and shops. Afternoon: Drive to Albuquerque (60 mi, 1 hour) - Hot Air Balloon Capital of the World. Visit Balloon Fiesta Park and Hot Air Balloon Museum. Learn about history of hot air balloons and enjoy 3D movie. Park holds annual hot air balloon festival every October.
Albuquerque - Gallup - Petrified Forest - Sedona
Morning: Drive from Albuquerque to Gallup (150 mi, 2 hours 20 mins). Explore Gallup - founded 1881 as railroad payhead, located on Trails of the Ancients Byway. Drive to Petrified Forest National Park (2 hours). Visit world's largest and most beautiful petrified forest with ancient petrified forests (Black Forest, Crystal Forest, Rainbow Forest) and badlands known as "Painted Desert" with early Indian ruins. Trees from Triassic period approximately 225 million years ago. Afternoon: Visit Meteor Crater Natural Landmark (45 mins, 80 mi from Sedona) - meteorite impact crater 37 miles east of Flagstaff, best-preserved meteorite crater on Earth, designated National Natural Landmark 1967. Drive to Sedona for overnight.
Sedona - Route 66 - Las Vegas
Morning: Explore Sedona - Red Rock Country renowned for its aura and mysterious energy. Visit Chapel of the Holy Cross - Roman Catholic chapel built into Sedona buttes with 90 ft tall iron cross. Optional Sedona Trolley (3 hours). Afternoon: Drive along Route 66 (America's Mother Road) - historic U.S. Highway 66 established November 11, 1926, originally ran 2,448 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. Pass by Hoover Dam. Drive to Las Vegas (300 mi, 4 hours 40 mins) - world's gambling capital for overnight.
Las Vegas - Death Valley National Park - Los Angeles
Morning: Drive from Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park (120 mi, 2 hours). Explore Death Valley - hottest and driest region in North America, lowest point on North American continent, largest national park in mainland. Unique geology features sand dunes, sandstone, colorful rocks, volcanic craters, and salt lakes. View undulating mountains and multicolored rocks. Afternoon: Drive back to Los Angeles (240 mi, 3.5 hours). Tour concludes.
