Today we will visit one of the most important examples of the Mayan-Toltec civilization in Yucatán, Chichen Itza, exploring the fusion of Mayan construction techniques with new elements from central Mexico. As one of Mexico's most visited tourist destinations, it was granted World Heritage Site status in 1988 by UNESCO World Heritage Site and was recently selected as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After learning all about the dazzling ancient city, we will head to Cenote Ik-Kil to feel relaxed and refreshed in the uniquely peaceful and beautiful environment. Itinerary: 08:15 Depart from hotel 11:00 Arrive at Chichén Itzá (90 mins) 12:45 Depart from Chichén Itzá 13:20 Head to Cenote Ik-Kil (90 mins) 15:15 Visit Suytun cenote (30 mins) 17:15 Head back to hotel Note: This schedule may be subject to change depending on the actual circumstances. Chichén Itzá: As the best-preserved Mayan city-state ruins in the world, this ancient capital of the Mayan Empire, which was excavated in 514 AD, features many beautiful ancient buildings such as the Castillo Pyramid, the Cuju Ball Court, the Warrior Temple, and the Oval Observatory. The Quetzalcoatl Pyramid is listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Cenote Ik-Kil: A cenote outside Pisté in the Tinúm Municipality, Yucatán, Mexico. The cenote is open to the sky with the water level about 26 meters (85 ft) below ground level. There is a carved stairway that leads down to a swimming platform. Ik Kil was considered sacred by the Mayans who used the site as a location for human sacrifice to their rain god, Chaac. Suytun cenote: A thin bluestone path extends into a turquoise pool. This internet-famous cenote features a unique landscape with stone piers and massive stone walls. The water is relatively shallow compared to the height of the walls, resembling a huge open church. The crack in the ceiling is the highlight, with light shining directly in the center of the natural well, creating a perfect photo opportunity.
